| Effective January 1st, 1998, the VASF will use a point system to more fairly allocate priorities. The point system is designed to reward loyalty by recognizing each consecutive year a donor is a member of the VASF, as well as total cumulative contributions to the VASF. Each year, the VASF will "rank" donors on March 1st for the purpose of determining priority for that year's applicable benefits. Contributions received by 5PM on March 1st or postmarked the same day will count toward a donor's point total for the "rank". (The donor with the most points is "ranked" 1, the next highest point total is 2, and so forth). | |
| Points are accumulated as follows: | |
| 5pts. | Awarded for each consecutive year of giving since 1986 |
| 1pt. | Awarded for each $100 donated to the VASF since 1986† |
| 1pt. | Awarded for each $100 donated to Capital/Endowment funds since 1986 |
| One time addition of: | |
| 50pts. | Awarded to UT Letterwinner |
| 50pts. | Awarded to donors of UT atletics prior to 1986 |
| The point system will be used to determine priority in situations such as, but not limited to, the following | |
| |
| Examples: | |
| 1. John Doe has been a donor to the VASF for 5 consecutive years and has given a total of $2500. John's points are as follows:
5 Consecutive years x 5=25 | |
| 2. Joe Smith started giving to the athletic deptartment in 1963 and continued giving $500 a year once the VASF was established in 1986. Mr. Smith also made a $5000 gift to the Lindsey Nelson Baseball Stadium and is a football letterman. Joe's points are as follows:
12 Consecutive years x 5= 60

| †Points from Vol Check-off contributions and matching gifts are added to a donors point total only when the funds are received, not at the time of the inital pledge. | |
